ADH (CT-pro-Vasopressin)

Accredited Facility E-report Qualified Specialists

This test is done to assess levels of CT-pro-vasopressin, a stable fragment that reflects antidiuretic hormone (ADH) secretion. ADH helps regulate water balance and urine concentration in the body. Abnormal levels may be associated with conditions affecting fluid balance such as diabetes insipidus or syndrome of inappropriate ADH secretion (SIADH).

  • If there is excessive thirst or abnormal urination.
  • If diabetes insipidus is suspected.
  • If SIADH is suspected due to low sodium levels or fluid imbalance.
  • If there are unexplained disturbances in fluid or electrolyte balance.
  • No fasting is usually required.
  • Fluid intake may need to be controlled before testing depending on medical instructions.
  • Inform your healthcare provider about medications affecting fluid balance.
