This test is done to measure the level of 17-hydroxyprogesterone, a substance produced in the adrenal glands as part of steroid hormone production. Abnormal levels may indicate disorders such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia or other conditions affecting cortisol and androgen hormone balance. It is commonly used in hormonal and reproductive evaluations.
